Day eight, 4th Sep
It was overcast so we made a picnic and headed to Amboise in the car, we had been last time but had not walked over to the island. We knew there was a car park on the island so on arrival we drove onto the island and parked there, was free.
I got out to take some photos of the bridges but a storm was coming up the river and I just got back to the car as the heavens opened.
We decided against having the picnic in the car and the rain soon cleared up anyway. So before lunch, we had a walk on the island and found the campsite and an Aire. Then walked back to the car along the river, where we came across a big green man on the river bank, well a sculpture of a big green man anyway.
Then back at the car, we had our food on a bench close to the car facing the river, in the sun, before crossing over the river into town.
What we did in town was, basically what we did last time, walked round the outside of Château d'Amboise, looked into some of the shops and ended up back by the river. It was Sunday and there were not that many shops open, which was ok by me.
The sky started to look dark so we hurried back over the bridge to the island, before it rained again but it never did.
We though we would stop in Chaumont-sur-Loire on the way back so drove down to the river to where there is lots of parking places. The road along the river to the parking spots was barred, it looked like there was a family bike ride (probably for charity) on the riverside road. So I just checked out the campsite there before heading back to our campsite.
